2001 Spalletti Chianti DOGC
Piedmont Coognoli, Italy
(Variety 90% Sagioveto,8% Canaiolo, 2% Trebbiano and Malvasia del Chianti)
A red wine made from 90% Sangioveto and 10% other varieties well within the 75% Sangiovese grapes Chianti guidelines, all the grapes from the Ruffina zone, aged 8 months in Slovian oak.The distinctive woodsy Sangiovese aromas of earth and leather are repeated on the palate and integrated with clean supply ripe berry fruit, in an overall structure of medium body and fine acidic balance.The finish is persistent and fresh.

A dark Brick red cab that has an aroma of fresh strawberry, with hints of cherry and plum characteristics.This soft rounded cabernet is jamb packed with fruit flavors with soft fine-grained tannins and well balanced mouth feel.It is matured using American oak that combines well with the natural minty, blackberry flavors common in cabernet sauvignon.

This is a medium bodied Chardonnay that is full of fresh lively fruit.It has a vibrant gold straw color and it has typical rich tropicalfruit flavors that combine well with soft French oak barrels used to mature this wine.The fresh scent of the wine has citrus characteristics and peaches and has a distinctive buttery oak finish.

The wine is harvested by hand and aged in French oak for eight to twelve months.The wine is 85% Merlot and 15% Caberntet Sauvignon.The aromas are fruit-driven, yielding ripe black stone fruit, plums, and black cherries. There is excellent, aromatic intensity.The palate is highly extracted.The concentration is key here, with soft, ripe tannins and mid-palate structure.The wine finishes with ripe tannins and soft acidity.It is a serious fruit-driven wine.This wine is very highly rated by Wine Spectator, Newsweek, Food Wine, Tastings.com and many other wine publications.Wine Spectator October 2003 rated this wine with an 85.
